Amanda Werner BSN, RN, RN-BC, SCRN, ASC-BC

Stroke Program Manager, UCHealth

Amanda Werner is Stroke Program Manager in northern Colorado and oversees stroke care across four acute care hospitals, two freestanding EDs, and other nearby facilities. She has nearly 20 years experience in the medical field with nearly 11 of those years being in neuro and stroke specialties. One of her primary responsibilities and passions is developing effective stroke education for the nearly 1100 nurses and 1500 prehospital staff that provide care in northern Colorado. Stroke is an area that is extremely complex and difficult due to varying patient presentations, ever-changing workflows, and insufficient knowledge of caring for these patients. Developing education with today's limited resources in a format that is palatable and relatable across the HUGE variety of learning styles and mental bandwidths is a true challenge. Over the last six years, Amanda has developed and implemented multiple educational offerings and hands-on resources that are well-liked by staff across the board and have driven impressive stroke outcomes. Unlike the typical culture of stroke where it sometimes feels like there's not enough information or support, Amanda's passion is to ensure these resources and offerings contribute to a culture of stroke that welcomes input and has the bedside nurse at the center.
