Bill Cantrell RN, BSN, CEN

With over 38 years of dedication to emergency and critical care nursing, Bill Cantrell has built a remarkable career, evolving from a Paramedic to the founder and CEO of ResusMed. His educational journey is marked by several significant achievements, including an Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN), Paramedic certification, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). He is a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN), and serves as faculty for both TNCC and ENPC. Bill’s career encompasses a wide range of clinical and leadership roles, including serving as a Flight Nurse/Paramedic in hospital-based air medical programs and holding positions in Shock Trauma ICUs, Level 1 Trauma Centers, Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Open Heart Recovery. His transition to clinical education culminated in the founding of ResusMed seven years ago. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the company pivoted to offer more than 800 virtual TNCC and ENPC classes annually, reaching students across the globe. Drawing from his personal medical experiences, Bill has become a leading advocate for the recognition, management, and recovery of critical care delirium and Post-Intensive Care Syndrome (PICS). He currently serves on the Vanderbilt University Critical Illness, Brain Dysfunction, and Survivorship (CIBS) PICS Advocacy Committee. In recent years, Bill has focused his speaking and teaching on areas he is deeply passionate about, including Resuscitation Sciences, Optimizing Physiology, Difficult Airway Management, Electrocardiography, and SALAD (Suction Assisted Laryngoscopy and Airway Decontamination) Outside of his professional life, Bill resides in Edenton, North Carolina, with his wife Laura and their two Labrador Retrievers, Jasmine and Gracie.
