Jamla Rizek is active-duty nurse, currently serving as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps (USPHS). her experience includes caring for athletes at the 2016 at the Olympic Games in Brazil, underserved patients in the Sharjah, Dubai, completing over 25 different contracts as a travel Nurse, a nurse educator and nurse manager in New York and Michigan and a flight nurse/medic.
For 10 years, she was a part of a federal disaster response team, DMAT NY-6, where she was deployed to disaster sites after hurricanes in addition to National Safety and Security Events (NSSE), such as Presidential Inaugurations, supporting COVID-19 missions, Unaccompanied Minors and Afghan Refugees missions. She is the disaster preparedness and public health section editor for the Journal of Emergency Nursing.
