Cpt Katherine I Dore RN, BSN, CCRN

Captain Katherine Dore has been a Critical Care Registered Nurse for 9 years. She is an Instructor for the United States Air Force at the CENTER for SUSTAINMENT of TRAUMA and READINESS SKILLS (C-STARS) in St. Louis, MO at Barns-Jewish Hospital Trauma ICU. The C-STARS course brings Air Force Medics to Three Level One Trauma centers in St. Louis, MO. Katherine teaches Primary Assessment and the Joint Trauma Systems Clinical Practice Guidelines for trauma in a deployed setting. During the course, rotators participate in didactic sessions, high-fidelity patient simulations, and clinical rotations in high-acuity environments. She is a part of the Critical Care Air Transport Team for the Air Force. She has deployed to Afghanistan in 2021 where she was the lead Critical Care Nurse during the withdrawal in Kabul, Afghanistan. Moreover, she was critical in the 15-hour MASCAL response to 68 patients after two suicide bombings, ensuring the preservation and evacuation of 55 patients, and the honorable care of 13 United States service members killed in action. She was a part of the last medic boots on the ground in Afghanistan. Katherine's leadership and trauma experience was key to the historic airlift of over 124,000 Allies and refugees in this unprecedented aeromedical evacuation mission ever accomplished by the United States military. Katherine continues to prepare Air Force Medics for near/pear advisories for low resource deployed trauma settings.
