LaToria Woods MSN, APRN, RN, CCNS

LaToria Woods, MSN, APRN, RN, CCNS is a certified clinical nurse specialist by education and expertise. She is currently in the role of nursing content specialist in the education division at the ENA. She is also the staff liaison for the advanced practice advisory council and the geriatric committee volunteer groups. She began her career at the ENA in 2015 and was the staff liaison for the CEN Review Manual 5th edition revision work team in 2016 and authored a chapter in the Emergency Nursing Core Curriculum in 2017. Prior to joining the ENA, she practiced in the role of clinical nurse specialist in academic and community medical centers. She developed successful emergency nursing orientation programs, implemented the use of the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) in a facility that did not use the algorithm, and was involved in leadership that focused on improving quality measures and nurse retention in the emergency care setting. Woods earned a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Nursing in 1998 and went on to complete a Master of Science in Nursing degree in the adult-gerontology acute care clinical nurse specialist/nurse practitioner program at the University of Illinois at Chicago, College of Nursing in 2009. She is an advocate for and participant in ongoing professional learning. A future goal is to earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She continues to pass on knowledge to new graduate nurses and has mentored several nurses in earning their advanced degrees.
