Dr. Lorna Woodhall EdD, MSN, RN, CEN, TCRN, EMT-P

Dr. Lorna Woodhall is the Emergency and Trauma Education Manager for Allegheny Health Network, where she has worked since 2018. She has been a registered nurse for over thirty years specializing in critical care, emergency/trauma, and flight nursing, and has worked in prehospital care as an EMT and Paramedic since 1987. She is also an assistant adjunct professor at Georgetown University and teaches advanced physiology and pathophysiology. In her role at AHN, she has developed and presented the curriculum for the AHN Emergency Nurse Course and the AHN Trauma Nurse Course. She is a faculty instructor for the Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) and the Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC). Additionally, she develops and provides educational modules, including annual trauma education, sepsis, maternal hemorrhage management and hypertension, EMTALA, Crisis Response Team training, and others. Dr. Woodhall has also worked as a clinical and classroom instructor in pre-nursing education programs. She has been a Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support provider and instructor since 2007, and is a Stop the Bleed instructor. She has been a Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) since 1994 and Certified Trauma Nurse (TCRN) since 2018. She has published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine, The Journal of Bariatric Surgery, and co-wrote the Gastrointestinal, Urological, and Obstetrical Emergencies chapter in the 2017 edition of the Wolters-Kluwer Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) study guide. She has developed and presented information on substance misuse education for healthcare providers, obstetrical emergencies and trauma, non-accidental trauma in pediatrics, and nursing students with learning disabilities to regional, state, and national audiences. Dr. Woodhall completed her nursing preparation at Sewickley Valley Hospital school of nursing in 1991 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1996. She has a Master’s degree in nursing from Waynesburg University (2006) and earned a doctorate in education from Liberty University in 2019. She has been active in the Emergency Nurses Association since 1994 and the Society of Trauma Nurses. She is the 2025 President of the Western PA Chapter of the Emergency Nurses Association. She received the 14th Annual STAR Award in 2020 from the Simulation Teaching and Academic Research (STAR) Center for her contributions to simulation-based education.
